Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how MicroMedia (“ClearConsent,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit [wpclearconsent.com] (the “Site”) or use the ClearConsent plugin (the “Plugin”). We keep data collection to a minimum, and we do not sell your personal information.

1. Information we collect

Analytics (only with your consent). Our Site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. Our own Site runs the ClearConsent plugin, so Google Analytics loads only after you consent through our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is collected about your visit. When loaded, Google Analytics may collect information such as a truncated/anonymized IP address, pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and on-site activity.

Purchases and licensing. If you buy a paid ClearConsent license (Pro or Agency), checkout, billing, and license management are handled by our e-commerce provider, Freemius, and its payment processors. They collect the information needed to complete your purchase and manage your license — such as your name, email address, billing details, and country. We receive order and license information (for example, your email, plan, and license status); we do not store full payment-card details ourselves.

Plugin usage diagnostics (opt-in only). Through Freemius, the Plugin may offer an option to share anonymized usage and diagnostic data to help us improve the product. This is strictly opt-in — if you do not opt in, no such data is collected from your site.

Support communications. If you email us or submit a support request, we receive the information you provide so we can respond.

Server logs. Our hosting provider maintains standard server logs (such as IP addresses and request data) for security and operational purposes, as is normal for web hosting.

We do not otherwise collect or store personal information beyond what is described above.

2. How we use information

  • To operate and maintain the Site and the Plugin;
  • To process purchases and manage licenses, updates, and support;
  • To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support;
  • To understand and improve how the Site and Plugin are used (analytics, with consent);
  • To protect the security and integrity of the Site; and
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

3. Cookies and tracking

Our Site sets only essential cookies by default. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are set only after you consent through our cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the banner’s preferences.

4. How the ClearConsent plugin handles data

For site owners who install the Plugin: the Plugin is self-hosted. Visitor consent choices are stored in the visitor’s own browser and, where consent logging is enabled (a Pro feature), in your site’s own database with visitor IP addresses anonymized. The Plugin does not transmit your visitors’ personal data to us. The only information exchanged with us is license and (optional, opt-in) diagnostic data through Freemius, as described above.

5. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us operate:

  • Google (Google Analytics) — see Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Freemius and its payment processors — for checkout, billing, and license management. See Freemius’s Privacy Policy.
  • Our hosting provider — for operating the Site.

We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

6. International data transfers

Some of our service providers (including Google and Freemius) are based in the United States or other countries. Where information is transferred internationally, those providers maintain their own safeguards as described in their respective policies.

7. Data retention

We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here — for example, license and order records for as long as your license is active and as required for tax and accounting purposes, and support correspondence for as long as needed to assist you. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics configuration.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [contact email]. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Children

The Site and Plugin are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under [16].

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
